Congressman Steve Womack released the below statement on the passing of Judge William R. “Bud” Harper. Harper was the former Sebastian County Judge – a position he held for 16 years. He was also the former director of the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management under Governor Mike Huckabee. Harper was 81.

    “I am heartbroken with the news of Bud Harper’s passing.  Sebastian County and the state of Arkansas have lost a very gifted and selfless public servant.  I admired his love of community and his desire to make a difference for those he served.  Like so many others, he was a dear friend and someone I looked to when facing the challenges of public service.”
