  • Post Reconstruction lead and zinc mines began to appear. Fruit crops consisted of peaches, pears, plums, and the popular “Boone County apples.”
  • Cotton was a big cash crop until declining prices cut production in half.
  • A dam on the White River was completed in 1951, resulting in Bull Shoals reservoir and the relocation of Lead Hill and two highways.
  • John Paul Hammerschmidt was elected Third District congressman in 1967. He served twenty-four years
