Womack Portrait Unveiled in Budget Committee Hearing Room

Washington, DC—September 19, 2023…Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) released the following statement after the portrait unveiling ceremony in the House Budget Committee hearing room today:

Congressman Womack said, “It was a privilege to have served as Chairman of this distinguished committee important to promoting the fiscal responsibility of our nation. Now, I am honored beyond words that my portrait will hang in this hallowed room. I hope its presence inspires members to commit to doing the work of their country, no matter how difficult, owing much of their successes to those who have come before them. That’s exactly how I feel when I see the portraits in committee rooms. I’m eternally grateful for the friendship and support of those who have greatly impacted my life and time in Congress.

Congressman Womack served as House Budget Committee Chairman for the 115th Congress and Ranking Member for the 116th Congress. In 2018, he was tapped by Speaker Paul Ryan to lead the 16-member, bipartisan, bicameral Joint Select Committee on Budget and Appropriations Process Reform. Congressman Womack also wrote and passed out of the House Budget Committee the Fiscal Year 2019 Budget Resolution which balanced the budget within the 10-year window. This is the last true Budget Resolution passed by the House Budget Committee.
