Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after passage of H.R. 5016, the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act, 2015, which provides funding for the Treasury Department, the Judiciary, the Small Business Administration, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and several other agencies for fiscal year 2015:
“From enforcing our laws to assisting entrepreneurs, agencies funded in this bill provide essential services to the American people. But the federal government should not be able to use taxpayers’ own dollars to target them based on their political beliefs or violate their trust. As members of Congress, it is our obligation to provide the necessary oversight and safeguards to ensure it does not, and I am proud of this bill, which takes important steps to increase accountability and transparency.”
Congressman Steve Womack represents Arkansas’s Third Congressional District and serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the Defense, Financial Services and General Government, and Labor-Health and Human Services subcommittees.
