Womack, Arkansas Delegation Announce $4.2 Million for Local Airports

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today joined U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman and Congressmen Rick Crawford (AR-1) and Tim Griffin (AR-2) to announce that ten Arkansas airports will receive $4.2 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation to upgrade and improve their facilities.

“Arkansas airports are critical resources for families, businesses, and local communities,” Pryor said.  “Upgrading these facilities will ensure that our state remains a prime location for business and commerce in the future.”

“These Arkansas airports play a vital role in economic development in the state.  We must to continue fund improvements they require to help enable long-term growth and development,” Boozman said.

"Supporting and maintaining our regional airports is a critical responsibility of mine as a Member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee to boost job creation at home.  These grants will keep Arkansas airports competitive as we continue to find cost-effective ways to attract businesses and capital to our state,” said Crawford.

“This is great news for all of central Arkansas because modern infrastructure is essential for economic growth.  This funding will help increase commerce and private sector job creation in a vibrant region of our state,” said Griffin.
