The office of Congressman Womack is now accepting applications for our 2012 Washington, D.C. Summer Internship Program.
A congressional internship in Washington, D.C. is a rewarding experience on many levels. Students will work closely with Congressman Womack’s staff while learning the inner workings of the United States Congress and federal legislation affecting Arkansas. Those interested in politics, government and public policy are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities include attending legislative hearings, preparing legislative reports, researching specific issues, compiling information to respond to constituent’s inquiries, handle incoming mail and leading Capitol tours.
During the summer we offer two six-week internship sessions. Session I will take place from May 21st- June 29th. Session II will take place from July 2nd-August 10th. Though internships are unpaid, students will receive valuable experience and knowledge that will serve well in future employment and endeavors.
To be eligible, applicants must have completed at least two years of college work.
All applications must be received by March 19, 2012 to be considered for a 2012 summer internship. Summer months fill quickly and applicants are encouraged to apply early.
